Aria Health - Frankford

113-bed facility with more than 11,000 inpatient and outpatient surgery cases per year, Aria Frankford exposes residents to the multiple socioeconomic issues surrounding an inner-city hospital where a large percentage of the patient population is uninsured. Junior level residents will work a nightfloat system at Aria Frankford, covering all surgical patient in the hospital including in the Intensive Care Unit. Due to the nature of the patient population and relative lack of healthcare in this area, residents have the opportunity to identify and treat pathology that is not often encountered in other clinical training sites.





Aria Health - Torresdale

252-bed facility, the largest campus in the Aria system, offers residents a chance to rotate through all surgical services including General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Aria Torresdale is also the site of a regional comprehensive cancer center and residents will also rotate on the Surgical Oncology service.








Aria Health - Bucks

112-bed hospital located just outside Philadelphia, Aria Bucks was formerly Delaware Valley Osteopathic Hospital and still maintains a large number of DOs in all are of practice. Aria Bucks is a primary training site for osteopathic Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery residency programs. PCOM General Surgery residents cover all surgical services at this campus with a combined case load of more than 75 major operations per month.







Cooper University Hospital

This Level 1 Trauma Center with over 2,700 trauma admissions annually and a 16-bed state-of-the-art Trauma Intensive Care Unit is the busiest trauma center in the state of New Jersey. Residents are assigned to the Trauma & Surgical Critical Care service where they will participate in trauma resuscitations, operative trauma management and surgical critical care patient management. Cooper University Hospital is the site for one of the premier Surgical Critical Care & Trauma Surgery Fellowships on the east coast. PCOM General Surgery residents will also have the opportunity to work closely with PCOM Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery residents.







CKHS: Crozer-Chester Medical Center

530-bed facility, Level 2 Trauma Center and Regional Burn Treatment Center which performs more than 6,600 inpatient surgeries annually. PCOM General Surgery residents cover all of the surgical services including Trauma Surgery, Burn Surgery, General Surgery, Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Critical Care/Shock Trauma Unit. Crozer-Chester is also the primary training site, along with Taylor Hospital and Delaware County Memorial Hospital for the PCOM Vascular Surgery Fellowship.







CKHS: Taylor Hospital

151-bed community hospital located in the Philadelphia suburbs. Taylor hospital offers residents an opportunity to attend office hours and work in the operating room with highly experienced general surgeons.







CKHS: Delaware County Memorial Hospital

246-bed facility consistently ranked as "Best Hospital in Delaware County." Residents rotate on the Vascular Surgery service and get a wide variety of open and endovascular cases which include both peripheral vascular surgery as well as aortic and carotid procedures. As of October  2011 DCMH is in the process of constructing a brand new endovascular surgical suite.







Roxborough Memorial Hospital

137-bed community hospital which is also affiliated with the PCOM Internal Medicine Residency Program. Roxborough Memorial Hospital offers PCOM General Surgery residents an opportunity to interact with many attendings from PCOM as well as medical students who rotate through here on various services.






          

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

432-bed specialty cancer hospital located on the upper-east side of Manhattan. Residents will have the opportunity to rotate through various surgical oncology services including Thoracic Surgery, Head & Neck Surgery, Breast Surgery and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. PCOM maintains two apartments in a building directly across the street from the hospital so residents live free of charge during their rotations here.







The Reading Hospital and Medical Center

672-bed hospital and Level 2 Trauma Center ranked among the top 5% of all hospitals in the nation for overall clinical performance. TRHMC provides a wide variety of General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Colorectal Surgery and Trauma Surgery as well as a chance to work with Trauma & Critical Care Surgeons affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania Trauma Department. TRHMC has the busiest Emergency Department in the state of Pennsylvania and refers many patients to the resident-run general surgery clinic. Located outside the city of Philadelphia, TRHMC provides designated housing to all of the PCOM General Surgery residents who are rotating there for the month.







The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

430-bed facility which is the oldest and consistently one of the top-tanked pediatric hospitals in the world. Residents will work closely with Pediatric Surgery Attendings and Fellows participating in Colorectal, Vascular, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary, Thoracic and Fetal Surgery. Residents will gain experience managing patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and, as the only Pediatric Trauma Center in Philadelphia, residents will have an opportunity to learn management of a unique group of trauma patients.
