In recent years the PCOM General Surgery Residency Program has become increasingly competitive. Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact the PCOM rotation coordinator as early as possible to set up an elective "audition rotation" as there are limited spots available and they fill quickly. The most popular time to schedule these rotations are between the months July and October of the candidates OMS4 year. Rotation spots are given on a first-come, first-served basis with preference given to 4th year medical students. A 4-week rotation is preferred but there can be accomodations made for a 2-week rotation if  circumstances allow. Some of the rotation sites offers housing while other do not. Be sure to inquire about student housing prior to scheduling your rotation.

Due to the volume of applications received each year not every applicant will be given an interview. Candidates who have their application in early and who have rotated in the PCOM system with PCOM General Surgery Residents will be given preference for an interview invitation.
