PCOM General Surgery Residents participate in a number of academic activities both at PCOM as well as in the affiliated hospitals.

Surgery Academic Day is held weekly at the PCOM campus. Attendance in mandatory for all residents except those who are on an away-site rotation. Academic Day consists of weekly M & M Conference from a selected hospital system, student presentations and physician lectures. Monthly Journal Club, Board Review, Tumor Board/Tissue Committee and Mock Oral Boards are also included. A full schedule of the topics covered during Academic Day can be found here.

The PCOM residents also attend and participate in numerous lectures and conferences held regularly at their rotation sites. These include Mortality & Morbidity Conference, Multidisciplinary Rounds, Tumor Board, Pathology & Tissue Committee, Research Conferences, Radiology Rounds, Department Meetings and OMM Conference.

PCOM General Surgery Residents are also expected to be educators, preparing and presenting lectures to a wide range of audiences which include nursing students, medical students, interns, residents and attendings.
