On Tuesday, August 17th the PCOM Department of Surgery will be welcoming Dr. Thomas Geng as a guest lecturer for weekly Surgery Academic Day. 

Dr. Geng is a 1998 graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing his rotating internship at PCOM, Dr. Geng pursued a General Surgery residency at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA and completed a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in Philadelphia.

Dr. Geng was instrumental in developing the Level II trauma center at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center which began in 2005 and since 2009 has been the clinical site director for the PCOM General Surgery Residents as they rotate through the Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency Surgery services at The Reading Hospital.

Reminder to the residents that on Tuesday August 3rd the first update for your yearly Scholarly Project is due.  As always, these due dates can be reviewed for the entire year by checking the Calendar of Events. PCOM General Surgery Orientation is scheduled for Tuesday July 6th. Surgery Academic Day will be cancelled for that day.

PCOM Resident Orientation will be held on Wednesday July 7th and Thursday July 8th from 7:00am to 12:00noon at PCOM. Returning residents are required to attend ONE of the sessions. This orientation will cover HIPAA, salary & benefits, malpractice information and annual immunizations. For more information please contact Joanne Jones.
