PCOM medical students have the opportunity to work with the General Surgery Residents from the time they are first year medical students.
PCOM students are encouraged to attend weekly Grand Rounds. First and second year medical students can arrange to participate in teaching rounds at certain hospitals to learn how a team conducts morning surgical rounds.
The Residents also work with students during the surgical portion of their academic courses giving lectures, holding small group sessions and mentoring case study discussions. PCOM Surgery Residents also assist with PCOM Surgery Club events, including the Student Osteopathic Surgical Association (SOSA) conference which has been held at PCOM several times in the past few years.
