Many of the PCOM General Surgery Residents are involved in ongoing clinical and basic science research projects. Their work has been published in various journals as well as having been presented at academic conferences and poster competitions. PCOM General Surgery Residents are required to complete yearly academic projects and by the end of their 5-year program must submit a project that is suitable for publication.
The PCOM General Surgery curriculum does not incorporate a formal research year, but PCOM does offer the opportunity to work towards a Clinical Master of Science degree (M.Sc.) while undergoing residency training.
